This Saturday at 4 PM, the Wired Whisker is hosting the Coral Collective Drag Show on their patio. Drag Show for UMD student performers and first-time performers on their patio. Tickets are sold at arrival and $5 for students who show their student ID, $10 for adults, and children 10 and under are free. Coral Collective was founded by UMD student Jace Abott, who is coordinating this Saturday’s show. This is an opportunity for performers to share their talent for the first time.
Misha Smish, owner of Duluth’s first cat cafe, the Wired Whisker, responds to what she is most excited about for this weekend’s show.
“I’m most looking forward to seeing lots of newly arrived students come together at this event and experience Wired Whisker for the first time. September is such an energizing time with students returning, and this show is a perfect way to welcome them into the community. I’m excited for them to not only enjoy a fun, creative night out, but also to see that our cafe is a space where they can feel at home, connect with others, and be part of something that celebrates self-expression and inclusivity,” Smish says.

Many of the performers are UMD students and first-time drag performers. Abott, a UMD student and the creator of Coral Collective, is coordinating the event. This will be Wired Whisker’s third drag show since their opening in the spring of 2024 and their second time working with Coral Collective. Their goal is to create a space for new and first-time drag performers to share their talent and creativity with the community.
The performer lineup is John DesBebe, More Maeve, DemonKingVick, The Fool of Hearts, Cupid’s Heart, Parisa Paradis, Percy, Sir Vex, and Sister Francis Beaverhausen.
“Hosting this drag show at our cafe is meaningful for both our venue and the wider Duluth community. For us, it’s a chance to live out our mission of being more than just a cafe - we want to be a gathering place where creativity, inclusivity, and self-expression are celebrated. By opening our doors to new and first-time drag performers, we get to support emerging artists, many of whom are students, in a safe and welcoming environment,” Smish says.
