When the Storm Passed, the Beats Started.

The boom that radiated through the dorms wasn’t thunder. Griggs Beach was the center of a new storm, celebrating the first week of classes. Although the original event was delayed by the threat of storms, Griggs Beach remained electrified thanks to a collaboration between Housing and Residential life and UMD’s very own Techno Club.

For two hours, Techno Club DJs provided the soundtrack while students danced, played sports and hung out with friends. Dirty sodas and other refreshments gave students another reason to stick around while they settled into the new semester.

The event was a simple reminder that the first weeks of college are about more than finding classrooms and figuring out how to follow a syllabus. With music playing and students gathering, Griggs Beach became a place to relax, meet people and enjoy some time outside the dorms.
