UMD Clubs Promote Their Groups at the Student Activities Fair

UMD held their annual fall Activities Fair on Aug. 28, 2025. Over 50 student organizations participated in the fair, urging students to join new clubs and expand their horizons. These clubs expanded across numerous different areas of interests, from sports to bird watching.

Annamarie Johnson, Peter Mundale, Emily Kells, Evelyn Osborn

Annamarie Johnson, Vice President of Bird Club, is a Junior at UMD. She emphasised the joy that the club brings them all.

“We go on field trips all around the Duluth area, as well as further and beyond too,” Johnson said. The bird club works on different projects, including a specimen project that will be placed in the Bell museum. The UMD Bird Club meets weekly in the Swenson Science Building at 7pm. 

Sienna Ford, Jacob Hauer (president), Jade Kirkoff (vice president)

The Political Science Association is a club that brings people from all political backgrounds together to have conversations with students. They have local candidates come in and speak with students, answer questions people may have, and get voters educated before the next election. 

Sienna Ford, a member of PSA said, “Our group offers a unique opportunity for students to engage directly with community members through our candidate forums.” 


Dakota Kath, Ed McGee

Campus Clashing Party is the UMDs official Clash Royale club. UMD students can join each other's clans and play together. There is an official UMD clan where everyone can interact together and play the game. Campus Clashing Party meets Wednesdays from 5-6 p.m. They hold special events throughout the semester, their first being a campfire on Sept. 3. 

Rien Scrivner, Emily Bittner

Attitudes Dance Association is in their 32nd year at UMD. The group is open to all styles of dance and will work with various levels of commitment. In the fall, ADA holds workshops where participants  learn a routine and perform at a recital at the end of the semester. Rien Scriver, secretary of ADA, emphasised how everyone is welcome, no matter what your dance background is. 

Tommy Walsh, Tom Donahue, Alex Vasil

Northern Lights Ultimate Frisbee is a national USA team that takes people at any skill level. They travel across the midwest playing other colleges. There is no experience needed to join.

Kristian Foss, Ethan Daniels

UMD Men’s Rugby has been a team since 1974. They travel all around the country and  have won four national championships. They were initially called the University of Minnesota in Duluth Fighting Penguins, until recently becoming officially affiliated with the University. 

Kristian Foss, an officer of the club, said “No one plays rugby before they get to college, but once you start playing, you fall in love with it.” 

Jack Stubbs, Adyn Brudos, Ryan Malley

UMD Men's Club Volleyball is welcome to all skill levels. They play in tournaments across the state and travel for nationals.They are holding open gym sessions next week Tuesday and Thursday from 9-11 a.m. in Romano Gym.

Ava Ocker, Bryan Martinez

The Spanish Club is a language learning club that holds many different meetings and activities. Bryan Martinez, a member of the club said “We had a quesadilla night simply because we were hungry one night.” They are either held Wednesdays or Thursdays in the afternoons every other week.
