A GoFundMe has been created to support Jacob Lavoie’s family. The fundraiser has been created to assist in funeral, travel and other unforeseen expenses.

Lavoie was a 21-year-old UMD business student who went missing Saturday, Aug. 31 from Grandma’s Sports Garden in Canal Park. His body was later recovered from the Minnesota Slip on Friday Sept. 6.

The page reads, “Jake was a son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend. Many lives were impacted and improved by Jake's presence. The devastation and pain are deep and complex with this unexpected, tragic, and sudden loss.”

In the post, Lavoie’s family gives thanks for the continued thoughts, prayers and support.
