Governor Walz stops by UMD to talk to students!

On Wednesday, Nov. 3, students gathered around Kirby Garage to tune into Governor Tim Walz and Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan. Since election week was coming upon us, Walz and Flanagan enthusiastically encouraged students to vote and expressed to them the importance of voting.

One of Flanagan and Walz’ main topics was women’s reproductive rights and the importance of women’s decisions in this day and age. They expressed that women have fewer reproductive rights than most of their grandparents due to the overturn of Roe v. Wade.

Other important topics they touched on were climate change and trusting scientists when it comes to vaccines. Walz and Flanagan advised students to vote for them if they wanted to see change with these issues.
