The Bulldogs defeated Northern State 40-13 on Saturday afternoon capping off a historical perfect regular season and also capturing the north and overall Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference titles.

Emotions were running high after the game as the team celebrated their 11-0 season by taking pictures with family and friends who came out to support them.

Sophomore linebacker Cory Dixon said, “I'm just speechless right now, but we still got a lot more work to do.”

The Bulldogs started off the game slow with a scoreless first quarter, but seemed to find their rhythm by scoring 25 points in the second quarter and 15 in the third.

Captain receiver Nate Ricci was named the player of the game as he finished with 103 yards receiving and a 43-yard touchdown pass on a beautiful trick play late in the second quarter.

The Bulldogs dominated in all aspects of the game by racking up six sacks, four rushing touchdowns, and racking up 514 yards of total offense.

The team will now await the NCAA Division II playoff bracket to release. They are currently ranked No. 3 in Super Region Four and No. 5 in all of Division II.

The players seem to have been motivated since fall camp, knowing that this season would be special.

Dixon said, “This season came and it was time to start going to the bank and pulling out the work that we put in. We still aren’t satisfied, we got five more weeks.”

The Bulldogs are looking to capture their third NCAA Division II Championship with the last one coming in 2010.
