UMD Sweeps MSU in a 4-1 Victory

On Friday, Oct.17, the UMD Bulldogs faced the MSU Dragons in an energetic match with a Bulldog victory of 4-1. In the first half of the game, the Bulldogs scored first with a goal from Mariam Marsan 18 minutes into the game. 

Marsan was on her A-game as she scored another goal 32 minutes into the game, making it the second goal of the game — both scored by Marsan. Ending the first half with a 2-0 lead against the Dragons. 

One minute into the second half, Elaina Shromoff scored a goal for UMD,

 making the score 3-0. MSU was working hard to try to get past UMD and ended up making a goal with 16 minutes left on the clock to make the game 3-1. It was no match for the Bulldogs as Marsan scored yet another goal in a penalty kick with 5 minutes of the game left.

UMD had a huge victory against MSU with a final score of 4-1 and a hat trick for Mariam Marsan, which she couldn’t do without the help of her team and coaches. 

MSU had 3 shots while UMD had a whopping 25 shots, but MSU had 2 shots on goal and UMD had 17 shots on goal. The Dragons had 3 corner kicks while the Bulldogs had 10 corner kicks, with the Dragons having 1 offside and the Bulldogs having none. Both teams were close in fouls, with UMD having 6 and MSU having 9. 

The Bulldogs played on Sunday, Oct.19, against the University of Minnesota Crookston, gaining a victory of 1-0. UMD’s Elaina Shromoff made the goal in the second half of the game making it the only goal of the game. 

Crookston had 4 shots on goal while Duluth had 14 shots on goal. UMD had 10 corner kicks and 4 offsides, while UMC had 4 corner kicks and 1 offsides. The Bulldogs also had 18 fouls while UMC had 10. 

On Friday, Oct. 24, at 6 p.m., UMD faces Winona State University at Malosky Stadium.
