It may be late fall, but things are heating up with some friendly competition between fellow UMD students. The second session of intramural sports kicked off just this past Monday, November 2nd. Students of all skill levels can form their own teams, choose their captains, or register individually as free agents. Students can participate in a variety of activities throughout the next month, including basketball, pickleball, ice hockey, and volleyball.

These games are free to spectate, with games and matches throughout the next month. Basketball games are in Romano on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, from 6 pm to 9 pm. Both Pickleball matches and Volleyball games are in the Ward Wells Field House on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 6 pm to 9 pm. Ice Hockey games are at the RSOP skating rink Mondays and Thursdays from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm.

After a successful season, provided that the team has followed all regulations, the teams will participate in the playoffs or a tournament depending on their sport, thus wrapping up their season. Although the stakes seem low, these games get warm and sweaty pretty quickly. If you are looking for a new and interesting activity, or are simply hoping to keep warm as these temperatures are dropping, intramural sports may be worth checking out.
