After making its debut during Welcome Week, karaoke returned to campus for its first regular appearance of the academic year. At this point, Kirby Program Board karaoke night could be considered an elective. Once a month, students get another chance to grab a microphone, pick a song and discover how much easier classes are compared to singing your favorite song in front of a room full of fellow students.
Stephen kicked off the newest season of karaoke with his rendition of “Don’t Take The Girl” by Tim McGraw. From there, the setlist covered just about every musical corner of the campus, with songs ranging from “Man or Muppet” and a perfect rendition of “Alexander Hamilton” to “Interstate Love Song”, an audience-assisted “Total Eclipse of the Heart”, and a very loud rendition of “Welcome to the Jungle.” With “Japanese Denim" by Daniel Caesar closing out the night, providing that this syllabus cast a wide net.
Although challenging, your inner stage fright isn't for everyone; it's always a great time to head down just to enjoy the show! Don’t worry if you missed the first night; Karaoke returns monthly to Kirby Garage. The next session is already scheduled, so mark your calendars for October 21.
After several years away, the Kirby Program board brought back the mini concert, but it could be considered anything but mini. KPB hosted the event and invited Indecent Proposal to take the stage for an evening of live music, giving students a chance to hear a local band without having to leave campus.

Indecent Proposal brought its genre-bending style to campus, drawing from the musical history of Duluth while refusing to stay in one particular sound. The five-piece band consists of Josh Brown (Lead Singer/Producer), Terry Beckman (Bass Guitar/Manager), Andy Fabian (Drummer), Sicilia "Selie" Amborn (Vocalist), and Jason Soderlund (Lead Guitar/Backup Vocals).
The return of the event gave students a chance to gather outside on Kirby Terrace and enjoy an evening of music, food and dancing. Indecent Proposal performed a selection of songs during the concert, including their newest release, “Bleeding”, which had debuted only a few days before the event.

Along with “Bleeding”, the set included covers of “Champagne Supernova” and “Too Sweet” and ended the night with their own song “Behind Your Eyes”. There was also a pause in the concert to have the band and crowd sing “Happy Birthday” to Fabian.
Another week of classes down, and more weeks of events to come. It’s always worth checking out what is happening around campus and showing up to find your place as a Bulldog.
