Battle of the Sports Sexes: UMD Women’s Hockey is Ready for the Fans

If you have ever attended a Men’s Hockey game, you will know there is never a second of silence as the crowd cheers for their beloved D1 team. But things run differently at Women’s games, especially at UMD. With attendance as low as 16% per game, the UMD Women’s Hockey team is looking for the same support and respect from their fellow students.  Since 1999 when Duluth first introduced the Women’s division, the D1 team has won over 10 titles and in previous seasons more regular games than the men’s team. What is so different between the sports and why don’t the ladies get the same treatment as the men?
