Spirit Mountain Opens for Winter Season

At long last, snow covers the slopes of Spirit Mountain once again… or at least one slope is covered. Spirit Mountain opened for alpine skiing last Sunday, Nov. 26, with one run and one lift in operation.

The snowfall has been scarce so far this winter, so the snow-pack was largely composed of man-made snow. It was still a busy day on the slopes though!

While certainly not ideal conditions, it was still a gorgeous day to go skiing and a joyful return to snowsports this winter. In addition to the intermediate run that they had opened, Spirit Mountain was able to fit a small amount of terrain park near the catwalk near the bottom.

Spirit Mountain continues to make snow and open even more terrain despite the low snow. They were even able to bring in visitors to the Nordic trails on Wednesday. This weekend will provide more opportunities for skiers and boarders to get out in the freshly made snow.

Tickets and passes can only be purchased at the Skyline chalet currently, so unless you already have your lift ticket, it’s best to plan on parking at the top of the mountain. Those looking for affordable season pass options often turn to employment at Sprit Mountain, which comes with discounts at other hills as well.

Always remember to check the website for changing conditions or updates due to weather, and ride safe!
